The initial purpose of establishing the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University was to help solving problems in the field of agricultural production, particularly through research and provision of agricultural experts, which will provide real relief for the people of West Java in particular and Indonesia in general.
During its development, the Faculty of Agriculture carried out tasks in the field of education, research, and community service.
The formation of the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran initiated by the President on February 26, 1958.
Based on the Decree (SK) Deputy Minister of Education, and Culture (PP & C) No.. 101207 / S dated October 6, 1958, the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University was commissioned to prepare the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran. Next, on the date of 1 September 1959 the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University was formally established by Ministerial Decree No.85633/S.
In the period 1959 - 1961, the leadership of the Faculty of Agriculture held by a Dean who was assisted by a Deputy respective dean and a secretary, as follows:

Since its inception , the Faculty of Agriculture has had guidance and Development Plan in physical and non-physical aspects . In the physical aspect , at its inception , the Secretariat of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran located on Jl . Dipati Ukur No.37 , Bandung , while lectures and practicum scattered in several places and related agencies . In mid- 1961, the Faculty of Agriculture moved to Jl .Maulana Yusuf no. 12 , Bandung . In early 1968 the activities carried out activities in Jl . Bukit Dago Utara ; together with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry . Finally, in September 1986 moved to the campus of the Faculty of Agriculture Padjadjaran University in Jatinangor until now .
In 1962 , the Faculty of Agriculture developed the experimental orchard located in Jelekong village , Ciparay district , covering an area of 6.5 ha as the area of research and development of agricultural activities - further developed into Studio Research , Training , and Development ( SPLPP ) Ciparay . In 1980 the Faculty of Agriculture developed land area Arjasari village , Arjasari district, covering an area of 200 ha . It refers to the Decree of the Governor of West Java province No. 2093 / DIT / IPM / HP / 1980 on Approval of Permit Location and Land Use Rights Certificate No.02 Lebak Wangi on 10 - 7 - 1980. Areas of land to support the development of academic activities in the College of Agriculture is currently known as SPLPP Arjasari .
The development also includes the physical aspect of increasing the quantity and quality of facilities / infrastructure to support academic activities . Currently , the Faculty of Agriculture has particularly owned buildings and lecture halls ( 1,950 m2 ) , lab ( 2,950 m2 ) , internet ( capacity 15.698 kbps covering all area in faculty ) , library ( 657 m2 ) , the Student Centre ( 250 m2 ) . and a three-floor sophisticated building of integrated multimedia to digital libraries.
Development of non-physical aspects of the Faculty of Agriculture , among others, include the improvement of the curriculum and the educational system , as well as the development of educational programs . At first , Bachelor -level curriculum at the Faculty of Agriculture adopts a rise in the level of majoring and minoring approach to final project completion . Completion of the curriculum through the implementation of Strata - 1 Semester Credit System ( SKS ) enacted starting in 1979/1980 . Since the year 2008/2009 College of Agriculture implement Competency Based Curriculum ( CBC ) with learning methods that are Student Centered Learning ( SCL ) .
Under Decree No. Directorate General of Higher Education. 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007, since the year 2008/2009 the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran develop:
1. Agroteknologi courses (restructuring of Agronomy courses, Plant Breeding courses, Soil Science courses and Plant Pathology courses)
2. Agribusiness courses (restructuring of Social Economics of Agriculture courses).
the development of educational programs in the Faculty of Agriculture is not only for the development of degree level education. In 1979, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture with Masters and Doctoral Education Committee which had previously been established, proposed and developed the Graduate Program - which then becomes an embryo for the Graduate Program, University of Padjadjaran growing up today.
Graduate and Doctoral Education Committee chaired by prof. Dr.. Ir. Gunawan Satari the Graduate Program Sub Committee chaired by Dr. Ir. Husen Djajasukanta, M.Sc., and Doctoral Program Sub Committee by Prof.. Dr.. Ir. Gunawan Satari. At that time, Padjadjaran University became one of the nine universities which organizes the Graduate Program.
Based on the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No.. 0311/0/1991, management Postgraduate (Master and Doctoral Program) led by the Graduate Program Director is responsible to the Rector. Beginning in 2008/2009, it gradually managing Master Program (Crop Science Courses, Soil Science Courses and Agricultural Economics Courses), and the Doctoral Program (Agricultural Science Courses) conducted by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran.
